This short silent documentary shot on the 19th of march 1895 shows workers leaving the Lumière factory in Lyon
This was the first ever motion picture to be shown to the public on the large screen. On the 22nd of March of the same year it was shown at the conference on the advances in French photo industry, and on the 28th it opened the first commercial screening ever consisting of 10 items, held in the basement of Grand Café in Boulevard des Capucines in Paris. Later this date became the International Day of Cinema.
