ANDREY CHERTOV graduated from VGIK in Moscow in 1974, majoring in Cinematography, where he studied under the renowned cinematographer Boris Volchek. Since 1975 he has lived and worked in Bulgaria, directing around 200 documentaries and more than 15 feature films, with a long-standing career as a cinematographer (Director of Photography) on many of them. In recent years, as a director, he has focused on intimate documentaries dedicated to artists and musicians. His directorial filmography also includes "Rainy Day" (2013, doc.), "Silent Movie" (2017, feature), and "Once Upon a Time in Paris" (2024, doc.), presented at the 2024 MIFF.
