BOILING POINTS

Anger is very cinematic. It always looks effective when a main character, a hero or a villain, gives vent to the tempest of feelings that overwhelm them. Reflected in the movie title, this state guarantees high box-office returns to the distributors (“Fant?mas se d?cha?ne” or “Angelique in Anger” – this was the title chosen in the USSR for “Merveilleuse Ang?lique” which was still later renamed “Anger Management” or “Human Anger”). Though sometimes instead of being furious anger can help to set life in order, it can heighten feelings and in particular the sense of justice (“12 Angry Men”).

In this program we have tried to assemble movies which illustrate various manifestations of human emotions. It turned out that there is less violence than amazing prudence, which can be seen in the suburbs of Madrid and the restaurants of Casablanca, in the streets of New York and Iranian steppes.
