MS. HU’S GARDEN

Hu, who lives in a poor area of Chongqing, China. She tirelessly collects all kinds of strange rubbish from the city centre and builds them into a garden that looks like a preposterous fairy tale world. Her son, who suffers from depression, thinks she is “the stupidest mother in the world. She works hard but has nothing.” As modern business continues to expand, her home is about to be demolished. Director Pan Zhiqi spent ten years documenting the real life and spiritual world of the mother and son and those around them.
