The film is based on Heinrich Hauer Bellamann's 1940 novel

It follows loyal friends Parris and Drake, who have lost their parents and are leading an easy life in the provincial town of King's Row. Everything around them is shrouded in dark secrets, hidden behind a seemingly decent facade. The town is a quiet pool into which young dashing guys plunge headlong. Young Parris dreams of becoming a doctor and studies with his girlfriend Cassie's father. Drake intends to become a businessman when he comes into his fortune, but for now, he is enjoying the company of girls. Time passes, and the friends gradually grow up...
