The movie is based on Zakhar Prilepin's autobiographical novella "The Forest"
The story focuses on the father and son who spend every summer in the village of Isttsy, where they raft down the local Istya River. They have done so for several years, but this time things go astray: a harmless adventure turns into a real disaster. Much later the grown-up son remembers his father through the lens of the past years.

ALEXEI TROTSENKO
Alexey Trotsenko was born in Moscow. In 1998, he graduated from the department of acting at the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts (class of P.Khomsky), and in 2010 – from the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Film Directors (class of V.Khotinenko, P.Finn, and V.Fenchenko). His filmography also includes "Forma" (2010, short), "The Hunt" (2012, short), and "Sazonov" (2013), which participated in film festivals in Clermont-Ferrand, Reus and the Golden Phoenix in Smolensk, where it received a special jury mention.
