Andronika MARTONOVA
Film scholar, critic, professor, Bulgaria
Andronika Martonova is a film scholar, critic, expert and university lecturer in the area of Asian cinema. She is a full professor at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences - Institute of Art Studies, Screen Arts Department, where she is currently the Deputy director.
Author of two monographs, numerous critical and scholarly publications in the field of Asian cinema and Bulgarian film culture. She is a guest lecturer at the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts (NATFA) and at the Sofia University ‘St. Kliment Ohridski’ – Center for Eastern Languages and Cultures. Her main courses are ‘Aesthetics and History of Asian Cinema’, ‘Visual culture of East and Southeast Asia’, ‘Visual culture of India and Iran’, ‘History and diversity of Traditional Asian Theatre’. Member of Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers (Film Critics Guild), FIPRESCI and NETPAC.
As a film critic she was a jury member of numerous international film festivals – in Warsaw (Poland), Bangkok (Thailand), Brisbane (Australia), Sofia (Bulgaria), Almaty (Kazakhstan), Bitola (Macedonia), Kochin (India), Vladivostok (Russia), Nis (Serbia), Astana (Kazakhstan), Beijing (China), Bengaluru (India).
