PETER KUZNICK

Professor, writer, activist. Born in New York. He received his PhD from Rutgers University in 1984. In 1995 he founded the Nuclear Studies Institute at American University in Washington. Together with filmmaker Oliver Stone co-authored the 12-part documentary film series titled “The Untold History of the United States” (2012-2013), shown on Netflix and around the world, and the book of the same name, which became a bestseller on three continents. His institute in cooperation with museums in the cities affected by the nuclear attack, has been involved in organizing exhibitions commemorating the 50th and 70th anniversaries of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He is also the author of such publications as “Beyond the Laboratory: Scientists As Political Activists in 1930s America”, “Rethinking the Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki: Japanese and American Perspectives” (co-authored with Akira Kimura), “Nuclear Power and Hiroshima: The Truth Behind the Peaceful Use of Nuclear Power” (co-authored with Yuki Tanaka). Co-editor with James Gilbert of “Rethinking Cold War Culture”.
 
 

BRUNO JORGE

BRAZIL
Studied social communication in São Paulo, documentary film in Paris, and Master in Performing Arts in Liège. In 2003 he created De Bubuia Cine (formerly João de Barro) to manage his own projects and made very independently films of different genres, normally influenced by visual arts, experimental cinema and ethnography. He's also a cinematographer, editor, writer and producer of them. Among his short films we could mention “Justice to Insult” (2005), “The Barons” (2008), “Less Than Tomorrow” (2009), “Setback” (2013, best film at Festival do Rio), “Catuçaba” (2013), “November, December” (2016). In 2013 the French Cinematheque honored him with a retrospective of his short film work. His feature-length documentary “Piripkura” (2017) won Human Rights Prize at IDFA, Best Film Award at the Docville Festival among others. “The Invention of the Other” (2022), selected by MIFF and other festivals, won Special Mention in Biarritz and was prized as Best Film by the Docville Festival (Oscar qualified). His newest film “Useless Utensils” had its premiere in competition at It's All True Festival 2024.
 
 

IRINA URALSKAYA

RUSSIA
Born in Moscow. Graduated from the department of cinematography at VGIK (class of T.Lobova, S.Medynsky, V.Nakhabtsev). Since 1980 she has been working in cinema. Director of photography of 13 feature and more than 200 documentary projects for cinema and TV. Winner of the Government of Russia Award and of the Nika film award for the film “A Siege Diary”, which received the main prize at the 42nd MIFF. Nominee for the White Square film award as the Best Cinematographer of the Year for “Harvest Time” (2004) and “A Siege Diary” (2020). Member of the European Federation of Cinematographers. Teaches at VGIK and Film and Television School (GITR). Director and director of photography of the documentaries “1000 Degrees Celsius” (2003), “About Sarah and Sveta” (2005), “Dynasty. A Movie a Century Long” (2010), “Good Morning, Mitrovitsa!” (2012), “Her Family and Other Animals” (2008), “Albidum. A Story of Lost Film Strip” (2024) which participated in the MIFF last year.
