DZIGA VERTOV is a Soviet director, scriptwriter, theoretician of documentary cinema. Originator of numerous methods and techniques including “hidden came­ra” and “kino-eye”. Director of one of the first sound films “The Donbass Symphony” (“Enthusiasm”, 1930). Produced documentary film chro­nicles “Kino-Pravda” (1922–1924) and “News of the Day” (1944–1954). His filmography also includes the documentaries “The Anniversary of the Revolution” (1918), “The History of the Civil War” (1921), “Kino-Eye” (1924, silver medal at the World Fair in Paris), “Soviet Toys” (1924, animation), “Kino-Pravda” (1925), “The Sixth Part of the World” (1926), “Three Songs about Lenin” (1934), “Lullaby” (1937), etc.
