ANDREI KONCHALOVSKY was born on August 20, 1937 in Moscow. Director, screenwriter, producer. Studied piano at the Moscow Conservatory, graduated from VGIK as a film director (under M.Romm). His works have received a plethora of both Russian and international awards, including the Grand Prix of the Cannes IFF for “Siberiade” (1978), 3 Oscar nominations for “Runaway Train” (1985), 2 Emmy awards for “The Odyssey”, an Emmy and a Golden Globe for “The Lion In Winter” (2003), the Silver Lion of the Venice IFF for “The Postman’s White Nights” (2014) and “Paradise” (2016). His latest feature “Dear Comrades!” (2020) received the Special Jury Prize at the Venice IFF.
