NIKITA MIKHALKOV was born in 1945 in Moscow. Actor, director, scriptwriter and producer. Graduated from the acting department of the B.Shchukin Drama School and the directing department of VGIK (class of Mikhail Romm). People’s Artist of Russia, three times laureate of the Russian State Award: for films “Urga” (1991), “Burnt by the Sun” (1994), “The Barber of Siberia” (1998), “Oscar” and Grand Prix winner of the Cannes IFF for “Burnt by the Sun”. He has more than 60 awards in cinema art and for outstanding contribution to the world culture. President of the Russian Cultural Foundation. Chairman of the Russian Filmmakers’ Union. President of the MIFF.
