As a popular winter-sport, Ice hockey has been professionalized gradually in China since Beijing had successfully bid for the Olympic Winter Games
Qu Ruichen (Richard), Qu Lifan (Steven), and Zhai Zinan (Jason) are three nine-year-old strikers for a Beijing junior ice hockey team. All of them have the dream of becoming a professional. While the three strikers are giving their best on the court, their parents stand at a crossroads: should they support their children to become professional athletes or to force them to forget their dreams?

LIU HANXIANG graduated from the prestigious Beijing Film Academy. He is a multi-awards winning director that has always focused on documentaries about youth. “Burning Ice” is his first feature documentary to hit the silver screen. His filmography also includes “Tiger Hunt” (2011, short), ”Malan's Singing” (2011, short), “Liang Yi' Children's Day” (2012, short), “Summer Mobile Cinema” (2014), “Juvenile” (2016, TV doc.).
