2020, 90'

For two decades, the victims of the Six-Day War in the Democratic Republic of Congo have been fighting in Kisangani for the recognition of this bloody conflict and demanding compensation. Tired of unsuccessful pleas, they have finally decided to voice their claims in Kinshasa, after a long journey down the Congo River.

Dieudo Hamadi was born in Kisangani, Democratic Republic of the Congo in 1984. His early short documentaries «Ladies in Waiting» and «Zero Tolerance» caught the attention of several festivals in Europe and North America. In 2013, «Atalaku», his first feature documentary, won the Joris Ivens Award at Cinéma du Réel, the best Foreign film Prize at the San Diego Film Festival and the Jury Prize in FIDADOC. In 2014, his next feature «National Diploma» received two awards at Cinéma du Réel and was shown at TIFF before screening at 60 festivals around the world. In 2017, «Mama Colonelle» premiered at the Berlinale. In 2018 «Kinshasa Makambo» was presented at the Berlinale in the Panorama section before being shown in more than 60 international festivals. In 2019, Dieudo Hamadi has been attributed the McMillan-Stewart Fellowship in Distinguished Filmmaking by the Film Study Center of Harvard University.
