European Film Academy short films programm

EFA Short Films collection is one of the newest initiatives from the European film academy organized with the goal of furthermore popularizing of short films throughout the world. Eight short movies that will be screened at the upcoming 42 MIFF, were selected from twenty films – the picks appointed to be EFA nominees in the short films category in 2019. This particular selection includes the films selected at such renowned film festivals as Berlinale, Venice, Uppsala film festival (one of the biggest festivals contributed to short films), Sarajevo film festival, Krakow film festival which specializes in shorts and documentary films, and more. It’s not a secret that it’s not easy for short films to find their place in the bounds of traditional theatrical releases, that’s why any effort of popularizing “short cinema” among wider audiences is always largely supported by the festival movement worldwide – which includes MIFF. While this marks the first collaboration of Moscow film festival and European film academy, it’s not the first time the festival presents a program showcasing the most interesting and challenging short films from around the world – which usually can be seen in the “Short Films Corner” section of the festival.
