Enock is six years old when he is taken to a Confucian Buddhist orphanage and given the Chinese name Alu. He becomes extremely skilled in acrobatics. Suddenly he must make a choice to reunite with the culture of Africa or to sign up for five years in order to study in Taiwan.
Nicole Schafer was born in 1980. She is a South African writer, film director, producer, editor and cinematographer. Schafer completed her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in film and television production at the University of Cape Town. She lived in Malawi for two years to pursue her career as a producer. In 2011, her short film documentary «Homage to the Buddha - of Africa» was screened at International Film Festival in Rotterdam. This was planned as a study for a longer work. In 2019, her film «Buddha in Africa» was considered for an Oscar nomination.
