The program Masters will give the audience of the 40th Moscow International Film Festival an opportunity to see Russian premieres of the renowned fimmakers’ works. Among them are Sebastián Lelio )Disobedience(, who has recently won an Oscar – one of the most prestigious cinema awards; two-time winner of the Cannes Film Festival Bille August (55 steps); Italian director Paolo Virzì, whose movie The Leisure Seeker features such outstanding artists as Helen Mirren and Donald Sutherland; Warwick Thornton (Sweet Country), who was awarded at the Venice Film Festival last year; American independent cinema master Paul Schrader (First Reformed); two famous French directors Xavier Giannoli (L'apparition) and Cédric Kahn (La prière), who explore in their movies the complex relationships of a man and religion in the modern world. The audience will also see the movie Call to Father  by famous Kazakh director Serik Aprymov, and a family drama from acknowledged Italian master Francesca Archibugi (Gli sdraiati).
