Грузинский колхозник Георгий Махарашвили едет навестить раненого сына. Не застав сына в госпитале, отец отправляется на его поиски. Став очевидцем военных событий, старик добивается, чтобы его приняли в ряды советских воинов. В одном из боев отец встречает сына. Но встреча их кратковременна – сын погибает от осколка снаряда. Премия за лучшее исполнение мужской роли С. Закариадзе на IV Московском кинофестивале.
